Kinskey Discusses Preliminary Supplemental Budget

January 26, 2023

News – Sheridan Media

In his weekly discussion with Sheridan Media from the legislative session, State Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan, Johnson Counties) said the cutoff for new bill introduction was this past Tuesday, and there are about 400 bills that have been introduced in both houses.

He discussed the preliminary supplemental budget, which both houses will begin to work on next week.

Wednesday will be the second reading of the budget, and lawmakers can bring amendments to it which are discussed before there is another day off to consider the budget bill again.

He expects Friday to be a long day before the supplemental budget is voted on.

Kinskey said because the biennial budget was passed last year, if the legislature chose not to pass the supplemental budget, the state would continue to run on the budget passed last year, and be just fine, although he expects that will not happen.

We will have more from Senator Kinskey’s weekly talk with Sheridan Media in upcoming stories.
