The Sheridan County Conservation District has its plans set for 2024, and while it may not be as flashy as other years, the District soon has to prepare for another long-term plan.
Every 5 years the District comes up with a long range plan and outlines specific goals to accomplish within those 5 years.
The current 5-year plan ends at the end of next year.
District Manager Carrie Rogaczewski says aside from its normal operations, the District doesn’t want to get into anything too big or too time consuming, because if it carries over into 2025, it may not fit into the new 5-year plan which starts that year.

“When we get into looking ahead for maybe something different or new or changing our focus, that work happens in the long range plan part, and that‘s when the board really gets into setting objectives and goals and plans for the next 5 years and then the annual plan is just those activities to meet those goals and objectives.”
