Sheridan Memorial Hospital will host two community forums in April to share information and answer questions about a potential transition to Critical Access Hospital designation. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Sheridan Memorial Hospital recently announced it has begun exploring a transition to a Critical Access Hospital designation as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen sustainability and continue delivering excellent, patient-centered care. The evaluation comes in response to changing community needs and increasing financial pressures facing rural hospitals.
In an effort to answer questions and share information about the potential transition, the Hospital will host two community forums. The first will take place Thursday, April 9 at noon at the Center for a Vital Community at 245 Broadway Street. The second forum will be Friday, April 10, also at noon and at the Center for Vital Community on Broadway. Hospital leaders will provide an overview of what a Critical Access Hospital designation means and why it is being considered. Community members are encouraged to attend either session to learn more.
According to a media release from Sheridan Memorial, a critical access designation would better align reimbursement from Medicare and other government insurers with the cost of care, allowing the hospital to reinvest in services, workforce and technology while maintaining its current scope of care.
